Valverde will rotate against Leganes: Messi expected to rest

The Roma match demonstrated that plenty of Barcelona key players are struggling with minor injuries. Leo Messi, for example, hasn’t recovered from his hamstring issues which ruled him out of Argentina friendlies.
Secondly, the players are just physically and mentally drained. They are playing two matches per week while most of them were also involved in the international friendly matches during the break. Sergi Roberto pointed out to that issue, claiming that the players ‘are not machines‘.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that the season is coming to an end with the most crucial matches left to play. There are just two weeks before the Copa del Rey final while the first week of May will see the Catalans face Real Madridat the Camp Nou stadium. There are also two legs of the Champions League semi-finals between these matches. Luckily Barcelona’s return leg against Roma is almost a formality thanks to their 4-1 win on Wednesday night.
The main question is whether Leo Messi is fit to play against Leganes. It would be wiser to rest him given all the circumstances. However, it’s the Argentine alone who decides. He is still in the race for the Golden Boot and leads LaLiga goalscoring charts.
