
FC Barcelona’s 6-1 win against Eibar on Tuesday, saw manager Ernesto Valverde join an elite group of Blaugrana coaches reach a specific milestone.
According to SPORT, the 53-year-old became the fifth coach to have won his first five league games in his first season in charge of the Catalan giants.
Valverde joined the likes of Englishman Terry Venables, Dutchman Louis van Gaal, late-Spaniard Tito Vilanova and Argentine Gerardo Martino.
Three out of the of the four managers went on to win the league in their debut season in charge, while former Argentina boss, Martino, lost the title on the last day of the season.
The Blaugrana’s last five fixtures have seen them beat Real Betis 2-0, Alaves 2-0, Espanyol 5-0, Getafe 2-1 and Eibar 6-1.
