FC Barcelona and Rea Madrid are reportedly battle for the signature of a 19-year-old French starlet next season.
According to Spanish publication Sport, the two teams are keeping a close eye on Marseille midfielder Maxime Lopez.
The report claims that the Madrid side has a slight advantage in the race for the youngster, as the Frenchman is a big fan of Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane is said to know all about Lopez and his ability, and had this to say about the playmaker back in March.
“He is small, but his style of play is fascinating. I really like his personality. He runs a lot, sacrifices himself and allows others to play,” Zidane said, as quoted by Sport.
However, Barcelona are apparently not completely out of the race, because former sporting director at the Camp Nou, Andoni Zubizarreta is the man in charge of Marseille’s transfers, and the report suggests that he may favour selling the player to the Catalan giants rather than Real.
