Aguero has explained why he thinks it would not be easy for Manchester City to sign Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona.
Messi has been linked with the Citizens in recent transfer windows, with his current deal in Spain set to expire in 2018.
Aguero, who plays with the 30-year-old in the Argentina setup, believes luring his international colleague to City would be tough as he is more than just another player at Barca.
“The money isn’t a problem here,” he told TyC Sports
“But I think Messi, like Cristiano Ronaldo, are players who are symbols of their clubs and its difficult for them to leave.
“I would love to have Leo on my team, but that seems quite complicated.”
Messi is yet to commit his future to the Catalan club, but president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted the forward will sign a new deal in the coming weeks.
Aguero spoke to Messi after his hat trick for Argentina secured qualification for the World Cup.
The City striker missed the game as he continues his recovery from a fractured rib suffred in a car crash in Amsterdam.
“I watched the game with my mother,” he said. “I was very nervous but I screamed for joy. I’m delighted.
“I spoke to Leo and congratulated him. We are a group and we speak a lot, we all wish the best to everyone. I thanked him for what he is doing for the World Cup.”
