Xavi one of Barcelona’s legends, has came forward with a statement urging the Catalan Club to hurry and put a new deal before Lionel Messi, and he also thinks that the player is in need of the club as much as the club needs him.
Messi’s current contract will be expiring by the end of the 2017-18 campaign, with no agreement being reached so far.
The Spaniard player is positive that Messi and Barcelona will reach a common ground and a renewal will be set, but he thinks Barcelona she be more precautious and not keep the star wait too long.
Xavi advanced several statements on Messi’s contract and his opinion on him, as the following:
“I am convinced Messi will sign a new deal. Barcelona need Messi, but Messi also needs Barcelona, He looks happy to me, more mature and calm than ever before. I cannot see him changing clubs, but we have to act swiftly…It would be a historical mistake for Barcelona not to renew Messi’s contract…Leo is the best player in history. His importance will become even clearer once he retires.”
