Ronaldo has now equaled Messi’s record after lifting his fifth award for the best player in the world, but he has since insisted his rivalry with the Argentine is far from over.
He finished the FIFA vote with 43.15% of the nominations from national team coaches, national team captains, a panel of experts and fans, while Messi received 19.25% of the votes and Neymar followed in third place with 6.97%.
“It didn’t finish yet… it is just starting,” the 32-year-old said of the rivalry, as quoted by ESPN.
