On this day in 2006, Wednesday 17th May, FC Barcelona defeated Arsenal in the Champions League final to win the title for only the second time in their history. Take at look how the match unravelled with a dramatic sending off and an incredible Barça comback.

Frank Rijkaard’s side scored twice in the final 14 minutes to lift the European Cup at Stade de France.

Jens Lehmann was sent off after just 18 minutes to give Barca an instant advantage, but Sol Campbell’s 37th minute header put the Gunners in front.

The Catalans pushed hard to break Arsenal’s resistance and late goals from Samuel Eto’o and Juliano Belletti turned the game around and wrestled the trophy back to Camp Nou.
