Neymar and the starters who left Barça

Barcelona’s star Neymar has been in “rumors” spotlight as he is expected to leave Barcelona for PSG this summer. Rumor has it that his contract was renewed in the period of less than a year now, and it is reported that his fine pay check is overshadowed only by that of Lionel Messi.

It is claimed that he might leave the club this summer, and that PSG is willing and bound to purchase him with approximate expenses of 222 Million Euros, as his release clause entails. The deal if sealed is said to be of benefit to all parties involved: PSG would gain a spectacular star to boost the club’s assets, and Neymar would constitute the ultimate star of the club (since he’s outdone by Messi in Barca). Barcelona by then can either purchase new players or allow more similar procedures to take place, if it was proven prosperous.

Dani Alves (year of departure: 2016)

Dani Alves graced Barcelona in 2009. Yet, he departed for free to be part of Juventus’ club; there he was successful in conquering every “domestic honor” and step into the Champions League finale. His stay in Juventus lasted only a year before leaving for PSG.

Claudio Bravo (year of departure: 2016)

The summer of 2016 marked the departure of the Chilean goalkeeper, who as reported left the club as a result of the arrival of Andre Ter Stegen. He was purchased by Manchester City, which offered a clause of 18 Million Euros. It is worth mentioning that he was steady scorer for the club during 2015 and 2016 La Liga’s.

Cesc Fabregas (year of departure: 2014)

Fabregas planned to pursue his whole career with his “boyhood heroes”, unfortunately that did not last long. Upon his return to Barcelona in 2011, it was hard for him to cope with the overwhelming environment and keep a solid profile as a midfielder along with Xavi and Iniesta. He was steadily presented as pseudo nine on the pitch. At last, he was sold to Chelsea for 33 Million Euros.

Victor Valdes (year of departure: 2014)

As it was Fabregas case, Valdes has to also bid farewell to his “boyhood heroes” following his declaration that the contract wouldn’t be renewed. He had the intention to assess his skills in foreign clubs, yet a serious injury he inflicted on Celta Vigo made his aim to join Monaco impossible.

Samuel Eto’o (year of departure: 2009)

Eto’o was a critically acclaimed grace to Barcelona, and he even dodged Pep Guardiola’s 2008 urge, which witnessed great stars such as Ronaldinho and Deco leave. Yet, he left the next summer for Inter that entailed the reception of Ibrahimovic in return for Eto’o. The Cameroonian upon his adjustment to the Italian team won them 2010’s Champions League.

Deco and Ronaldinho (year of departure: 2008)

The two players were part of the Camp Nou for quite do long, before they were victims of the purge that took place in 2008. The Catalonian club was left head over heels following the departure of the two; Ronaldinho joined Milan, while Deco became a main player in Chelsea.

Luis Figo (year of departure: 2000)

It is still one of the most controversial transfers in the history of Football. The transfer occurred between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, costing the last 60 Million Euros. The player in question was the well-known Figo. He faced a hate backlash ever since, and it was reported the earned money went to waste. Marc Overmars, Emmanuel Petit and Alfonso all joined the Camp Nou at one, but it was not a hit for the team.
