Messi bagged four goals to inspire FC Barcelona to a 6-1 thumping of Eibar at the Camp Nou on Tuesday evening.
Eibar nearly took a surprising lead after just four minutes but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen produced a fine save to deny Enrich.
After a quiet start from the hosts, the Catalan giants were awarded a penalty in the 20th minute when Nelson Semedo was brought down. Messi stepped up and slotted away the spot-kick, 1-0.
The lead was doubled in the 38th minute as Paulinho netted for the second straight game with a fine header from close range.
The score remained 2-0 as the sides entered the halftime break.
The Catalan giants bagged a third goal in the 53rd minute as Denis Suarez smashed home from close range, after Dmitrovic could only save Messi’s effort.
Eibar pulled a goal four minutes later as Enrich found the back of the net by turning home Junca’s cross.
However, Barca restored their three-goal advantage in the 59th minute as Messi bagged his second goal with a finish into the bottom corner.
Messi completed his hat-trick three minutes later as the Argentine drove into the box before firing the ball under Dmitrovic.
With Barca comfortbaly leading, Ernesto Valverde introduced Aleix Vidal for Gerard Deulofeu in the 75th minute.
The Catalan giants were not done scoring, as Messi bagged his fourth and his side’s sixth goal with a clinical finish, following a cross from Vidal, 6-1.
