Messi’s appeal sentence is three days before the El Clasico

After judged guilty of Fraud between the years 2007 and 2009, Messi was sentenced to a 21- month prison verdict and a fine of 2 million Euros.
Messi appealed against the verdict sentence on April 20, and Spain’s Supreme Court will consider his appeal.
The father of the Five-time player of the world winner was sentenced the same verdict, in addition to a fine of 1.5 Million Euros.
According to Spanish law, any defendant with a sentence below two years is rarely required to serve jail time.
Reportedly, Messi and his father defrauded the tax office of Spain of 4.2 Million Euros in the period from 2007 till 2009 through shell companies in order not to pay taxes on the player’s image rights.
Messi who is a top scorer in La Liga and has more goals that any other player in El Clasico, appeal’s date is three days before the upcoming El clasico.
Real Madrid is two points ahead and at the top of the league’s score.
