Luis Suarez on his relationship with Messi and Neymar.

Luis Suarez has told El Periodico he is very “privileged” to be playing alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar, he says it’s a ‘striker’s dream’ to play with the best two players in the world at the moment.

Luis Suarez: “It is the dream for any No.9 to have the two best (Messi and Neymar) in the world [alongside them].”

“There are tight games which they open up and make the difference. I am very privileged.”

“Messi and Neymar are spectacular for the way they are on and off the pitch.”

“In every training session, in every game they [astonish] you.”

“We don’t get put together, we’re kept apart, and it’s impossible to get the ball off of them.”

“They beat you with their bodies, with speed… They’re a step ahead.”

“If there was a game between the three countires [Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil] it would be a mess.”

“They’re the classic teams in South America. That all three of us get on so well generates a great image.”

“We’re team-mates and friends. When we compete, each one of us gives our life for our country.”

“Neymar is a fun guy, he’s a really good team-mate who cares about people, about his family… about many things which are not seen.”

“With Leo it’s a different relationship: the kids go to school together, we’re neighbours.”

“I see Leo as a team-mate, a friend. Not as a Messi as the rest of the world [sees him].”

“Living alongside Messi, I can see it is very difficult and you have to understand him.”

“He is an admirable person, for all he has done and shown on and off the pitch.”

“It is the dream of any centre-forward to have the two best in the world. They can open up tight games and make the difference.”

“I am a lucky man, Messi and Neymar are spectacular.”

“Watching the Champions League semifinals on the television hurts a lot,” Suarez said of Barca’s early European exit.

“It hurts because of the quality we have, from the goalkeeper though to the last substitute, and because of everything we have achieved until now.”

“But you have to be self-critical. We’re aware that doesn’t mean we will win [everything]. You win on the pitch, by not making mistakes. You can’t gift anyone anything. We gifted Juventus moments of the game in Turin and we paid expensively for it.”

“It’s been the same in La Liga. We didn’t underestimate anyone, but we were sluggish against Betis and ended up drawing; against Depor we had one bad half and we lost.”

“They’re things we must learn from in the future. We’re aware that we have given away a lot of points. Next season we must apply ourselves and make sure we don’t give anything away in any game.”
