Following Barcelona’s run (and win) with Granada’s which culminated in a 4-1, Robert Fernandez spoke on multiple subjects, among is the Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes, who was confronted by few obstacles in finding his way into a smooth integration in the Club, and who was signed for 35 Million Euros in addition to a potential 20 million Euros as an added fee clause.
Fernandez shared his thoughts as the following: “He’s done some good things and some not so good things. He’s a player with a lot of quality, a player we will always say good things about…There are a lot of great things about him, and he can bring a lot to the team. He needs more time than others. He’s a player who has had a lot of chances and he will keep getting them…The coach has a lot of confidence in him, and thanks to his characteristics he can play in many positions… He needs to find more security for himself on the pitch. I’ve always said that he’s a player who needs calmness [to thrive] and it’s been harder for him to come here [than others]”.
Fernandez also highlighted the importance for Barcelona to keep reaping winning cards: “We will keep going until the end, while there is still the chance to win. We will press as much as we can while the chance is still there. There are clashes with teams that have a lot to play for in La Liga, in Europe, in relegation battles, we will have a spectacular end to the season …Then there’s the direct clash with Madrid and for that it was important to win this game to keep going”
