The overwhelming comeback was reportedly furthered through three penalty decisions in favor of Barcelona. Luis Suarez’ outstanding performance maintained the win in the final minute of normal time.
Decisions undertook by Aytekin insured Barcelona’s penalty to be a wining card, while it made PSG more furious and frustrated.
Aytekin sense of judgment was, according to reports in Spain, the reason why he might be suspended by UEFA.
The aforementioned claims of Aytekin being suspended were later on refuted and rejected by the president Aleksander Ceferin. He stated that: “We will not suspend the referee from that match, referees are not suspended”.
The president went on saying: “When something doesn’t go well, we discuss it, but it is not a matter of suspension”, he also said: “That would be like suspending a player who missed a penalty kick when he should simply go to the bench if he misses many penalty shots”.
