Barcelona has been asserted as the first team to stretch a helping hand towards after the Chapecoense’s tragedy. The club’s president stated that Barcelona was the only European based team to offer financial aid to the team following the crush that took place in 2016.
The team’s lost their first set of players as a result of an airplane crush, while on their way to the South American Cup finals.
The team’s president revealed prior to their prospective clash against Lanus that: “Only Barcelona were on our side from the very first moment”, and that “They offered us funds and in the month of August we have been invited to play the Gamper Trophy, with the proceeds shared with Chapecoense.”
De Nes has also thanked all the teams that have offered their help in either way. And he revealed that Roma was intending to play against the team, but De Nes’s team had a very hectic schedule, reportedly three games in one week.
