Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign Gremio midfielder Arthur, according to Marca.
The Catalan giants have already brought in Philippe Coutinho and Yerry Mina during the January transfer window, The Catalans have been working on signing the Gremio midfielder for some time, and they now appear to be close to achieving their aim.
Barça’s South American representative Andre Cury in Brazil as he look to finalise a deal for highly rated midfielder Arthur, he has been a key piece in bringing Neymar, Coutinho and Yerry Mina to the Camp Nou.
Although the operation is virtually done, Arthur, 21, would be likely to join at the end of the season or potentially in the summer of 2019.
Gremio president Romildo Bolzan has made it clear no deal would be done unless the player’s release fee clause is met.
The 21-year-old has a contract until 2021 with a 50m euro release fee clause. The fact that Barca has the three non-EU places occupied will not stop their incorporation of a player with a long way ahead of him.
The Blaugrana are optimistic because the player wants to sign up for them, and that already represents an important part of the agreement.
