Barcelona have officially agreed a deal to sign Gremio midfielder Arthur for a fee rising to €39m.
A statement on Barca’s official website confirms Barca have a purchase option in place to bring in Arthur this summer for €30m plus €9m in bonuses.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough 2017, helping Gremio win the Copa Libertadores and reach the Club World Cup Final, where they faced Real Madrid.
He has also represented Brazil at Under-17 and Under-20 level and been called up to the senior squad several times, although without making an appearance.
“Arthur is a midfielder who is known for his passing ability,” explained the Catalans’ official website.
“Another of his qualities is his ability to lose his man, a factor that makes him a danger close to the opponents’ area.
“The Brazilian is excellent at protecting the ball and can come up with the final pass in the final third.”
