Angel Di Maria, has played alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, however he has now had say on who is the better player.
The PSG star plays with Messi for the Argentine national side, while he played alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid, where he was instrumental in the club claiming their 10th Champions League title.
Ronaldo and Messi have dominated world football over the past decade, winning a host of individual honours including an astonishing 10 Balon d’Or awards between them.
“No [laughing]. I’ve always said that they’re the two best players in the world because, in all honesty, they are,” Di Maria told Marca.
“That’s why they are shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or every year. I can’t pick one over the other. They’re the best.”
Di Maria spoke highly of both players, firstly Messi: “One of the best in the world. Playing with him and being his friend is everything to me. Defending the national colours for Argentina with a player like him… words can’t describe it”.
“Cristiano is an excellent player, but being in the same era as Messi has been difficult,”
“There are no words to describe Leo [Messi]. He always surprises you. A year goes by and Messi is the best, another year goes by and he remains the best. He’s a player from another world, an alien.”
