With a Premier League star recently admitting to snubbing a move to FC Barcelona, here are more players who have turned down a transfer to the Spanish giants.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez recently revealed that he picked Ajax Amsterdam over the Blaugrana a couple of years ago, telling Marca Colombia that the Spanish club could only promise him a spot in their “B” side.
In January 2017, Gabriel Jesus told the Daily Mirror he picked Manchester City over Barca, and other top European teams, due to Pep Guardiola being the manager.
Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is another top player who has turned down the Catalans, after he had been linked with the club for many seasons.
The Paris Saint-Germain star was expected to join Barça at the beginning of this campaign, but decided against the switch, telling L’Equipe he is still committed to the project at the French giants.
Atletico Madrid duo Antoine Griezmann and Koke are also believed to have snubbed the Blaugrana at different times of their careers, as did Brazilian wonderkid Vinicius Junior, who is set to officially move to Real Madrid in 2019.
Italians Andrea Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon also had opportunities to represent Barça, as did current Chelsea and Brazil defender David Luiz, who admitted snubbing the Catalans for Paris Saint-Germain in 2014.
